Matched Pairs, and the associated Matched Pairs report is designed to find similar applicants that received different actions.
Matched Pair tolerance setup is the basis for identifying matched pairs, and the tolerance setup takes place in Settings > Fair Lending. Once the tolerances have been set up, the Matched Pairs report may be run, based on those tolerances.
Step 1 Log into the CDP
The active Institution and File will display in the upper right-hand corner.
Step 2 Click Settings located in the top menu
Hover over Fair Lending
Step 3 Click on the Matched Pair Tolerance Setup sub-category
Step 4 To create a new Tolerance, click New Group
4.1 Type in a name or description within the Group Name box
Step 5 Click New Definition
5.1 Type in a name or description within the Definition Name box
5.2 Add or remove actions within the Control Action Codes box (optional)
5.3 Add or remove actions within the Target Action Codes box (optional)
Step 6 Click New Field Tolerance
6.1 Click the drop down arrow in Field to select the desired field for the tolerance
6.2 Click the drop down arrow in Operator to select the desired operator
6.3 Type in a value within the Tolerance field
Step 7 Click Save
Step 8 To add another Tolerance to an existing definition, click on the Definition within the list
8.1 Click on New Field Tolerance button
8.2 Click the drop down arrow in Field to select the desired field for the tolerance
8.3 Click the drop down arrow in Operator to select the desired operator
8.4 Type in a value within the Tolerance field
8.5 Click Save
Step 9 To add another Definition to an existing group, click on the Group within the list
9.1 Click New Definition
9.2 Type in a name or description within the Definition Name box
9.3 Add or remove actions within the Control Action Codes box (optional)
9.4 Add or remove actions within the Target Action Codes box (optional)
9.5 Click New Field Tolerance
9.6 Click the drop down arrow in Field to select the desired field for the tolerance
9.7 Click the drop down arrow in Operator to select the desired operator
9.8 Type in a value within the Tolerance field
9.9 Click Save
Step 10 To edit or delete a Tolerance, click on the specific Tolerance
10.1 Make any desired changes
10.2 Click Save
10.3 Click the Delete button to remove the definition and tolerances within it
Step 11 To edit or delete a Definition, click on the specific Definition
11.1 Make any desired changes
11.2 Click Save
11.3 Click the Delete button to remove the definition and tolerances within it
Step 12 To delete a Group, click on the specific Group
12.1 Make any desired changes
12.2 Click Save
12.3 Click the Delete button to remove the definition and tolerances within it
Note on report setup/results: Once the Matched Pairs Tolerances have been created, the report can be processed as is.
Alternatively, the Target and Control Fair Lending overrides can be applied to further identify the target and control groups. To run the Matched Pairs report WITHOUT applying a Target and Control Override, move to Step 22. To apply the Target and Control Fair Lending Override, continue to step 13.
Step 13 Click on Discovery
Step 14 Click on Research
Step 15 The filter panel should be extended. If it isn’t, click the Filter button to extend it
Step 16 Click on the located in the bottom left-hand side of the page to add a new filter condition box.
16.1 Build a filter to identify the Control group. The example below is a sample Control Group of white males.
16.2 For a filter step by step guide, refer to the CDP 402 help article - Filtering.
16.3 Once the filter is in place, click Activate
Note: A Control group might be those applicants that are White, male or Non-Hispanic and the Target
group are typically minorities or female applicants. They can be defined through a filter to fit any analytical needs or concerns for comparing similarly situated applicants.
Step 17 Click the drop-down arrow next to Output
Step 18 Select Target/Control Group Definition
18.1 Ensure the radio dial is on Control Group Definition
18.2 Click Process
18.3 When it completes, it’ll bring back up the filter window.
Step 19 Next, create a filter to identify the Target group
TIP: Be sure to delete the filter conditions for the Control group before adding the filter conditions for the target group.
19.1 Once the filter is in place, click Activate
Step 20 Click the drop-down arrow next to Output
Step 21 Select Target/Control Group Definition
21.1 Click the radio dial next to Target Group Definition
21.2 Click Process
21.3 Once processing completes, the filter window will return.
To run the Matched Pairs report, continue to Step 22.
Step 22 Click on Discovery
Step 23 Hover over Reporting
Step 24 Click on Matched Pairs
Step 25 Select the report settings:
- Balance Field - this refers to the balance field(s) containing data
- Field Set - select the desired Field Group
- Tolerance Definition - references the Tolerance Definition set up within Settings > Matched Pairs
- Geographic Area
- Date Range
- Date Field
- Start Date
- End Date
- Enable Include Concur/Reviewed Apps. (optional) - utilizes any override status codes selected on the Fair Lending tab of the record in Data Entry
- Enable Use Control/Target Settings from FL Group Utility (optional) - uses the discovery - research - Fair Lending overrides.
- Report Header (optional)
- Report Footer (optional)
Step 26 Click the Run Report button
Here is a sample Matched Pairs report where additional filters were applied for Target/Controls:
Controls are displayed in grey rows and targets in white.
The Recap section in the upper right-hand corner of the report summarizes the total number of qualifying control or target records, as well as a breakdown of totals and percentages for each.
