The steps below will go over the creation and management of Tract Groups and Assessment Areas
necessary for certain reports as well as submission requirements.
Step 1 Log into the Compliance Data Platform
The active Institution and File will display in the upper right-hand section to the left of the
name of the user logged in.
Step 2 Click Settings
Step 3 Click on Tract Groups/AAs
Note: The system will automatically select the first group in the list and place it in edit mode. To get out of edit mode, click the Cancel button located in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
Step 4 To add a new group, click the green Add New button
4.1 Type in a Name to easily identify the Tract Group or Assessment Area
4.2 Click the drop-down arrow for Activity Year to select what activity year’s census tracts to
display for selection
4.3 If the group will be a Reportable CRA Assessment Area, place a check mark in the box
4.4 Isolate the Tracts within the Find Available Tracts section
- Click the drop-down arrow for State to isolate the geography by a specific state
- Click the drop-down arrow for MSAs to isolate the geography by a specific MSA (optional)
- Click the drop-down arrow for County to isolate the geography by a specific County (optional)
- If the group will be built based off of another saved group, click the drop-down arrow for Existing Areas and select one (optional)
- To further filter down the options, place a check mark in any desired boxes for Income or Minority
Note: The Income and Minority section are filtering by the tract income and tract minority percentage
- To apply a Population filter, click the drop-down arrow in the first box to select the Race
- In the second box, click the drop-down arrow to isolate the operator:
- Equal To
- Greater Than
- Less Than
- In the Enter Number box, type in the desired numeric value
4.5 Once all Available Tracts geography filters are in place, click the Find Tracts button
Step 5 From the Available Tracts box, add the desired tracts in the following ways:
5.1 Place a check mark next to each individual tract to be moved. Click the Add (single forward arrow > button
5.2 To add all of the tracts within the Available Tracts, click the Add All (double forward arrow) >>
button
5.3 Once the desired census tracts are in the Selected Tracts box, click Save.
Step 6 To edit an existing group, click on the name within the list.
Follow Steps 4.4 – 5 to identify and add more tracts to the list.
Step 7 To remove tracts from the Selected Tracts box, use one of the following methods:
7.1 Place a check mark next to each individual tract to be moved out of the Selected Tracts window.
Click the Remove < button
7.2 To remove all of the tracts within the Selected Tracts window, click the Remove All << button
7.3 Once the desired changes have been made, click Save
Step 8 To delete an existing group, click on the name within the list
8.1 Click the Delete button located next to the green Add New button
8.2 Click Yes to the confirmation box
Step 9 To create a new Distressed/Underserved Tract Group or Assessment Area, select the checkbox for Distressed/Underserved, then follow steps 4 & 5 above.
Step 10 *To create a new Rural/Underserved Tract Group or Assessment Area, select the checkboxes for Distressed/Underserved, and/or Rural/Underserved Tracts, then follow steps 4 & 5 above.
Step 11 To create an Assessment Area via import, click the Import button.
11.1 For the new Assessment Area to be created, type the Name, select the Activity Year, and click "Choose File" to upload your designated CSV file.
Note: The CSV file will need to have a single header row with separate columns for State Code, County Code, Census Tract, and MSA.
11.2 Once file name appears, click "Load File" to map the header rows.
11.3 Map each Field Name with its corresponding Import Column from the new .csv file.
11.4 Click Import. A status message will display in the lower-right hand corner of the CDP, which displays how many records were successfully added.
11.5 Once all of the desired tracts are listed within the "Selected Tracts" area, click Save to complete the creation of the newly imported Assessment Area.
11.6 The new Assessment Area will then be added to the grid at the top of Settings-Tract Groups/AA's.
