This procedure provides the steps for utilizing the Ethnicity/Gender Proxy tool in CenTrax NEXT, as well as updating the Ethnicity and/or Sex for each name within the list.
This tool, used to ensure fair lending, utilizes only the First or Last name to determine the ethnicity and gender of the applicant(s). This tool gives you more control over your non HMDA data, and can be
used as part of your Fair Lending analysis.
Step 1 Log into CenTrax NEXT.
Step 2 Click on Data Processing from the main menu.
Step 3 Click the Ethnicity/Gender Proxy tool.
Note: The tool combines two options for proxy: Ethnicity or Sex.
Hispanic names listed on the left-hand side may be updated by using the Ethnicity Proxy tool, or names and their associated gender may also be added or updated using the Sex Proxy tool.
Step 6 To apply the Ethnicity proxy tool:
6.1 Within the “Proxy Type” section, select the radio button for Ethnicity.
6.2 Select the checkbox for Ethnicity to update the corresponding information in the CenTrax file.
6.3 Click Update.
Step 7 To apply the Sex proxy tool:
7.1 Within the “Proxy Type” section, select the radio button for Sex.
7.2 Select the checkbox for Sex to update the corresponding information in the CenTrax file.
7.3 Click Update.
Step 8 To change names within the Ethnicity list:
8.1 Within the Name Lookup search field, search for the name you wish to update.
8.2 If a match is found, you may choose to delete or update the name.
8.3 If a match is not found, you may choose to add a new name.
8.4 To enter a new name, click NEW.
8.5 Type the new name into the text entry field and click SAVE.
8.6 Delete a current or new name by clicking the Delete button.
Step 9 To change names within the list for Sex:
9.1 Select the radio button for Sex.
9.2 Within the Name Lookup search field, search for the name you wish to update.
9.3 If a match is found, you may choose to delete or update the spelling of the name and/or its associated gender.
9.4 If a match is not found, you may choose to add a new name and/or its associated gender.
9.5 To add a new name to the list on the left-hand side, click NEW.
9.6 Type the new name into the text entry field and click SAVE.
9.7 Click either the Male or Female radio buttons to designate the corresponding Sex.
9.8 Click the SAVE button.
9.9 Delete a current or new name by clicking the Delete button.
Note: The Applicant Sex and Ethnicity columns are not included by default in the Data Entry view. These columns may be added by clicking the Add/Remove Columns button and adding one or both columns.
